We are planning to relocate to Charlottesville once the Florida house is sold. Having spent quite a bit of time looking in the area we are debating living in the city proper versus Albermarle county. We know the tax rate is lower in the county. What would be the advantages of living in the city? advantages to the county? Thanks for your opinions

Honestly I can't think of any advantages to living in the city as opposed to Albemarle County except that the city itself might be a bit cheaper, but even then I'm not sure.... I haven't checked prices.

True, Charlottesville-city-living is not for everyone. I personally prefer living close to downtown mall. Love being able to walk to post office, restaurants, galleries, shops, parks etc. There is a variety of housing/neighborhood options ranging from old or even some new houses to condos and lofts. Here you can pick between lively and quiet. I have explored and compared the location options with a critical eye of a newcomer and after little over ten years, my family and I are still truly enjoying living in Charlottesville City.
