So is it all about the pre-made foods? I am a "whole foods" kinda gal (buy hormone/antibiotic free meat from a local farm store, organic produce and basic ingredients from an organic grocery store, etc). If it's about the pre-made entrees, then that is probably why I never understood the TJ rage. It's great that people have healthy affordable options through Trader Joe's .

No, uncured, antibiotic free meats; no dyes, no highfructose. The only pre-made things I buy are the breads, high fiber muffins and a chicken salad. Oh and my husband loves the wraps, all natural. Much lower than Whole Foods and you can go to one store!

TJs operates debt free so they fund their expansion off of other stores in the area. Your best bet is to give them your zip code everytime they ask for it.

Aggie girl- the chicken marsala is delicious.

Also I lived approximately 50 yards from one before I relocated from TN. I missed it but I adapted. Now that there is on in Nashville I only go when I'm in Green Hills. I don't make a special trip for it.

Until then GA will continue to get our dollars, not only to buy from TJ's but gas and other things while in the area.
Why didn't you just move to the places that had the things you like?

LauraC - not very friendly or welcoming comment! We don't always have choices - nice if you do. And other than you, most people and things seem nice there - just lacking in a couple stores I and others would like to have.

I was loving Trader Joe's here until I had a terrible experience with the horrible employees and ,apparently, the attitude of the general managment! I wrote a blog TerrorizedbyTraderJoes with the whole story. Yes, they have some convenience stuff but now I'm feeling like it's best not to get too dependant on a store for anything! We loved going in there and, I guess, became complacent. They're also not so health conscious as you're led to believe! so find farm stands and local places and learn to cook!

Like another poster stated - you don't miss something that you never had. I moved to TN from FL and we didn't have one there either. Never heard of it until now...

Yeah, Trader Joes is NOT a health food store by any means - and Whole Foods originally was- is no longer - even the CEO admits the high moving items in his stores are what he considers "junk" food but has to sell the stuff cause it's so profitable. tries to make the produce more appealing but sells far more of the "bad" stuff..

I know if I retire to the area I won't miss Trader Joe's at all. We must have at least 12 of them in the Portland area alone and at least 10 Whole Foods. I don't go to any of these stores and they are not all that healthy for everyone. I need no sugar/low sugar and low carb type products and the managers told me they don't cater to that. As far as Im concerned. TJ as well as Whole Foods only cater to certain segments of people and the rest of us are beneath them.

Yeah we should only have stores in America that cater to the lowest common denominator, like WalMart. I might not be able to get a rack of New Zealand lamb there but the frozen pizza selection more than makes up for it.
