my BF and I are moving from ohio to tennessee in a couple of months. we are about to graduate, dont have any kids and just want to go away while we can. with that being said we are clueless about moving to a different state. I am a EMT-Basic and he is a mechanic/ CDL driver. we will be renting and we want a small town outside of the city (not a huge commute for work) and we need somewhere affordable. what are some good small towns near chattanoga or knoxville area that would be a good place to start?!

Won't be hard to find rural or smallish towns that now serve as suburbs to Chattanooga. This area is really like about 25-30 small towns linked by a common valley (Tennessee River). So you have downtown, St. Elmo, Northshore, South Main/Broad, UTC and Ft. Wood, Highland Park, Normal Park, Red Bank, Lookout Mtn., Signal Mtn., Rivermont, Hixson, Missionary Ridge, Brainerd, East Ridge, Riverside, Amnicola, Soddy Daisy, Harrison, East Brainerd, Ooltewah, Rossville, Ringgold, Silverdale/Tyner, Lafayette, Lakeside/Ft. Oglethorpe, Walden, Dayton, Trenton, and others. Then you have Cleveland, which is within commuting distance but is not considered part of the Chattanooga metro area. It has about 40,000 people. Same goes for Dalton, GA and Dayton, TN.
