Have the trees started blooming yet and when is the best time of year for full bloom? We're coming up in 20 days on our way to Gatlinburg (I also posted a Gatlinburg thread in the Tenn forum), and I would like to know what to expect.

How longs will the trees stay in bloom?

Thumbs up Peak end of March, Early April

G.B. Bring your camera , you will have Peak blooms. Each week there is a different brand that has its golry run. I did see a White pear in full bloom yesterday very near the airport right on Rt #153. Must get extra heat from traffic vehicles. Yes they look like covered in snow.
... The further north one goes will be later in month. Mostly White Dogwoods in this area. Maybe 2nd week of April. Then the Pink REDBUD trees.

I can't speak for Gatlinburg, but my Bradford pear is just about ready to bloom. Gatlinburg might a week or ten days behind Nashville for blooming time, but here the second half of March is the peak time for pears, and April for dogwoods.

It depends on the weather, of course, but early April should be a good time for pears in Gatlinburg, and maybe for dogwoods (it might be just a bit early there, but I'm not sure).

Tridad, I am jealous. I am already sneezing. It's worth it though, to see the pear trees blooming. They are awesome right now!

A neighbor of my parents in Albany (GA) had the most beautiful tree in his yard - light and dark pink blooms - it is apparently a Non-blooming peach tree. Anyone know much about them? I think I am going to have to plant one!
