I have been researching the Chattanooga area for almost a year. I have honed in on Signal Mountain and Soddy Daisy (but I would like any opinions on near by areas). I was hoping someone could guide me as to what the best neighborhoods are for families with kids. Mine are 10 & 7. I see most of the school districts rate pretty high I just want them to have neighbors close by to play with! I’m sure my husband will be working in the city. Thanks!

WELCOME, Signal Mtn has a high rating for schools.. Last yr tried to form their own district away from Hamilton co.. Housing is expensive there.. Steep, narrow roads each day or twice a day with kids may not be for everyone...?
You just have to get opinions from the Real Estate people you choose.. North Hixson near DallasHollow just built a new school a few years ago. This should be very near the beautiful county park calledChester Frost ,for beach swimming, boating, picnic, county fair... New. CoNstruction going up all around county. .. We are retired inSoddy and like very much. Their schools do well.

I agree with SPLIT regarding housing and roads for Signal Mountain. I just moved here 6 months ago and choose Signal for it's school, it is the best in the area and the town take pride in it. Hamilton County school system includes some of the most impoverished schools, so all the money gets funneled there and the average to good schools get starved for funding. Since Signal sits 1100 feet higher, they usually have milder temperature than Chattanooga by 5-10 degrees. People of Signal are small town folks who lived here for generations, so they have their own cliches and social circles. Your kids will find better success making friends with new transplants vs the established cliches. I recommend looking into Soddy, East Hamilton and Ooltewah. They may be small town, but they are growing communities and may be more open to transplants vs the Signal cliches.
