I'm planning a trip next month to search for a house in the area. Any input from the locals re:safe/unsafe areas? I saw a post a couple of months ago that Tunnel Blvd area was not the safest. Any info on Washington Heights, Red Bank , Hixson, Harrison areas? I have enjoyed reading your post about the city and have found them to be most informative. Thanks for your help.

I am moving up next month/June, and have done tons of research into the various areas. But I would love to hear what others here think about which areas are the best, safest, & most family friendly.

We've got people who live in most of the various parts of Chattanooga, so you'll get good info.

I live in the East Brainerd area, which is Chattanooga's shopping district I think. Hamilton Place Mall, and lots of restaurants there. Takes about 20 min in the morning to get to downtown during traffic. 5-6pm traffic, it takes about 20-30 min. Without traffic, 15 min max. Wife and I bought our house last fall after our baby was born.

Signal mountain area is kind of peaceful around Moutain Creek Rd (lots of apartments there). I know people who live in Hixson, and like it there. Soddy Daisy is a bit rural but still close to Chatt. East Ridge isn't too bad although there would be some areas to watch out for. Belvoir area has beautiful homes! Harrison is next to the bay/park, and it is really beautiful, but further out. I think 45 min to get to downtown during traffic.
