We will be relocating to the Chattanooga in June of 2010. We were wondering how much we can expect to pay for a few things.

How much is:

Gas/Electric -- We are used to paying $200-$400 per month

Water/Sewer --We pay around $100 per month

Cable/Internet/Phone -- We pay around $170 for all three

We are just trying to get an idea of the different costs. Thanks

Last I checked utilities (at least here in Chattanooga) were calculated based on usage or services selected.

Are you coming from a place where each person pays the same price? Communist China perhaps?

Yes, I understand how utilities are calculated. We are moving from Wisconsin.

Just looking for an estimate of what people pay. For example. If you have a 2000 sq. foot home what is the average monthly bills for gas/electric, water/sewer etc....

Thanks

i have a 3400 sq foot home, although some of that is closed off bc we no longer need/use it....but anyway...the no. you mentioned above are about average for me....electric runs about 300 (averaging out the higher bills in the heat of summer and coldest of winter), my bundled cable, interent, phone runs about 185, and my water/sewer runs about 80, except higher in the summer when the kids are using the sprinkler, filling up pools, etc.

2400 sq feet: electric is about $50-80/month, gas ranges from $40-100, tv/phone/internet was $99/month for first year. Going up to 129. Water/sewer - think that ranges from 100-200 every 2 months. We have separatew meter for sprinklers

LW may correct me on all this b/c she takes care of all these, but that's what I recollect.

I would strongly recommend looking into DirectTV and AT&T for your TV/Internet/Phone needs. We have been using Comcast for the past few years and recently dropped them like a rock due to all kinds of problems and rude C/S. You will also save lots of money by using AT&T Home Phone/Internet service and they offer a bundle package with DirectTV if you can get it where you live which saves you more money and gives you more channels and variety

we're a little obsessive about our electricity so it's on the lower side - generally about $35/month in non-summer months. Our highest is probably about $75/month.

No gas in our house

Water is $22/month (no pool; 2 people living in home; in city limits)

cable/internet is $54/month (high-speed internet and basic cable - about 8 channels)

phone is $24/month (local only, no call waiting)
