How is Northshore? TriDad, I see you are a fan and an expert. Cann you give me the "low down" on it? I finally made it to Chatt but family is still in NYC. We are still trying to solidify employment and the prospects are looking good. Prayerfully, Hubby and I will have good news this week. We have two girls 8 & 9 who we will need to put in school SOON since it has already begun down here.

Any info is helpful.

Not really an expert, but I do hang on the Northshore a bit. Like most neighborhoods it has it's good and not so good. Pluses include close to downtown, shopping, strolling, walking, biking, Coolidge Park, Greenlife, etc...

But it is a bit more expensive and the area zoned for Normal Park schools is in high demand. If you're planning on putting the girls in private school then it's not so much a worry. There is a great neighborhood just north called Stuart Heights - problem is the schools that way are not good at all.

hopefully you're considering renting for a while till you get a better lay of the land. Let me know if you need anything in particular

Default Lay of the Land

We have been down multiple times now and have seen over 20 houses. I have been here since August 14 and getting a pretty good idea. We are narrowing down to neigborhoods that feed into Big Ridge or Ganns-Middle Valley elementary...don't have the money for private school. Good thing is that I'm an educator myself and will make sure my girls get what they need one way or the other

We live on Big Ridge and absolutely love it! Thing to concern yourself with is school - after elementary school the kids may have to go to Hixson Middle and High which u fortunately not highly rated. I'm of the opinion that kids will bloom where ever they're planted but some firmly believe they need the right environment in which to do so.

Unfortunately, we won't be in Big Ridge right away. We will be staying at the Homeaway Suites in Hixson until we settle on a home and that is zoned for Hixson Elementary. I hope to see some more home on Friday or Monday on Fairview and N Park Rds. I'll keep you posted.
