Hi Friends:

I'm somewhat new to Chattanooga and have friends visiting this weekend. After doing some touristy Rock City-like spots, I'd like to take them to lunch. A neighbor recommended Public House or 212 and, while they're great restaurants, they are restaurants you could find in just about any city in this country. I'd like to take my friends somewhere (nice), but that has something unique or memorable about Chattanooga, be it a view, the food, or ambience. We'd be going to lunch sometime Sunday afternoon. Suggestions, please!

The Boathouse might be very nice. Great view of the river over the river walk, great outdoor atmosphere, and the food is good. It's located on the Amnicola just outside downtown. You can also walk about 1 mile from Bluffview along the riverwalk to get there.

Default Terra Nostra

Tapas (not topless) on Frazier -North Shore- Great ambiance/decor, great service, excellent food. Have not had a bad experience there yet. No view or anything but nice area to walk around including Coolidge Park either before or after.

If you want true "Chattanooga-esque", take them to the Station House at the Choo Choo to experience the singing servers. Whether they like it or not, they'll never forget it.

Hit Aretha Franklenstein's for breakfast. Show up early if it's the weekend, or bring lots of patience and start in on the guinness before you get a seat. Otherwise, great breakfast grub with unique pancake and waffle recipes.
