I said the restaurant in the holiday inn was a nice place to have a business lunch and the holiday inn bar is a good place to discuss business over a drink.
Ohhh I know that place all too well.

You sure about that?

I was talking about the reason why the Holiday Inn isn't a club.

If you took a business client to either one of these hood rat havens you would surely lose that deal!!!

Borders NEVER has a good crowd....Borders in Orland is what a Borders should look like...Borders on Michigan Ave is REALLY how a Borders should look like...Borders in Matteson is the bookstore version of the Holiday Inn.....EMPTY!! Olive Garden is only crowde because well.....its the only one in the south suburbs period so basically it has a monopoly!!

And by the way those hotels are only surviving because of one thing....close proximity to the expressway and the truck drivers from other cities going into Chicago for deliveries....its not because Matteson is some great tourist town!! Stop it!! Just take a look behind the Holiday Inn any given night you'll see about 10 or 20 semi trucks parked back there. Without those truckers those hotels would collapse in 2 weeks flat.
I am sorry but you just don't have your facts right. The holiday inn in matteson is about 100 bucks a night which is not cheap for a hotel in the burbs. When my employees have to travel I don't even spend that much normally. Truck drivers do not stay at $100 a night hotels in the suburbs. Try $40-$50 a night. There are plenty of decent motels in the $50 dollar range all over the burbs. Atleast one decent newer one right next to the holiday inn that is alot cheaper if a truck driver wanted to pay extra for a nicer motel.

And as I already said the holiday inn in matteson holds alot of business seminars and meetings there. The restaurant and bar there are used mostly for guest and local business folks in the area to have business lunches or to discuss business while having a drink. My office is in olympia fields. That is the crowd that you will see in there. Not a club atmosphere at all unless someone happens to be hosting a club function there or rented it out for a party. Maybe guest hanging out in the bar in the evening sometimes. Go to knockouts bar and grill down the street to see some nice girls or bocces bar and grill 5 minutes away.

I go to borders in matteson all of the time. It does not look like it is underperforming at all. Get real ok it's one of maybe a dozen or so borders bookstores in the suburbs of chicago.

You live in an imaginary world where you are a successful business man and you live in this great suburban town and everything is great....when in reality its far from it. You cant accept the reality so you are on a quest to convince the world to see things your way which is not in allignment with reality. No matter how you try and bend the truth the south suburbs will never be an appealing place to reside for people "in-the-know". The south suburbs have been abandoned mainly because the city now offers more than ever before and most progressive people are moving closer to the action. The suburbs was a great idea in the 70's, 80's, and up to the mid-90's...but as Daley made strides and improvements to the city that idea died out.....black people just never got the memo...for most blacks in Chicago moving to the suburbs is still a representation of success and "The American Dream" thus the south suburbs caters to this fallacy/fantasy.

Again with the city versus the suburbs. If living in the city was so great for me I would totally be there in like a second. I would just stick a futon in one of my vacant rental units and boom, I'm there. I lived in the city as a young single guy for over 7 years. Most of those years not to far from wicker park in the humboldt park area so I know all about it. If I really wanted to I could buy a weekend place tomorrow in my same old city neighborhood. I've been there, done that. I have a kid now and a fiancee. She digs the burbs also. We are suburbanites for now.
