Six of one, half-dozen of the other. All are expensive, upscale suburbs with a preponderance of pre-war housing stock. If you weren't intimately familiar with them, you probably wouldn't be able to tell which one you were in if someone drove you into one of 'em blindfolded and dropped you off on a random side street.

The only difference is all of them think they are better than all the others.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that all of them draw the enmity of insecure class warriors.

Default What is the Sesame Street song???

One of these is not like the others, one of these does not belong...

NO access to Lake Michigan means Northbrook is NOT North Shore in my book...

Of the rest Glencoe is almost certainly smallest, with greatest percentage of homes fairly close to Lake and that tends to makes housing their the tightest followed pretty closely by Winnetka.

Lake Forest has an abundance of homes not very close to Lake, as does Highland Park. Of the two Highland Park is bit more affordable, but still lots of variations...

Tell that to the people that live there.

Nobody but you brought the term North Shore into the conversation. The OP said "Northside suburbs."

Highland Park has the best downtown. It has probably the 2nd best downtown after Evanston.

I agree with this, with Lake Forest probably coming second on this particular list.

Which one suits you best depends on so many factors, none of which you have mentioned. They are all different and all the same, it depends on what you are looking at.
