Thinking about relocating to the area and this is what I am looking for. I hope its not to much to ask for.
1. Good public transportation
2. Affordable housing
3. Little or no crime
Thanks in advance

Isn't everyone looking for those three things? You'll never find all three things together. Public transportation brings criminals to an area. Look what happened to Elburn when Metra came in. Affordable housing also brings in undesirables. Only rich areas with no public transportation have no crime.

The good ol' "Rule of Two" applies here. You can have good public transportation, affordable housing, and little or no crime -- pick any two.

The biggest question is what do you consider to be affordable.

Replace #1 w/"good schools" and I'm right there with ya!LOL

But I'm also w/Drover in that the reality is that it is really next to impossible to have ALL 3(....which is why we are adjusting our priorities accordingly.).

Actually there are plenty of good choices, depending on your definition of "affordable" and "good" public transportation. By not insisting on good schools you greatly expand your choices.

Super Poster Drover is defensive about Lincoln Park/Lakeview. What a surprise. Chet didn't say anything off base, irrelevant or remotely untrue..

It's true. Even in affluent parts of the city, crime is very real. It's the c-i-t-y. Affluent suburban areas don't have the same problems because they're more in a little bubble.

Even Homewood, Flossmoor and residential areas of Olympia Fields.

I don't give a crap about Lincoln Park. I don't live there, never have, never will, and I have to think back months to remember the last time I was there except to pass through it. And nobody even said anything about Lakeview so I don't know what the hell you're on about.

What I do give a crap about is people making up completely BS stats, whether it's about Lincoln Park, Edison Park, Sauganash, Garfield Park or Roseland.

"Chet didn't say anything off base, irrelevant or remotely untrue." Yeah, except to claim that even Lincoln Park, Edison Park and Suagaunash have auto theft rates of 50x that of the suburbs. Which is complete bull****.

That's an awfully high rate and I take back my post that Chet said nothing untrue. The spirit of his post was accurate even if the number was extreme.
