Now that the station at 35th Street on the Rock Island will open in time for the 2011 season, do any of you plan on riding the train to games? While the station was not strictly built to serve fans, they are an important market.Metra to open new station at 35th St. in time for White Sox home opener Rock Island schedule to be adjusted (http://metrarail.com/metra/en/home/utility_landing/newsroom/newsroom/metra_to_open_newstationat35thstintimeforwhitesoxh omeopenerrocki.html - broken link)

I'll be hopping the train frequently from 103rd. hugely looking forward to it -- a short walk from my house.

I usually ride the CTA to USCF but am planning to try the Metra option at least once.

Looks like this may also work out well for us near west side fans. For a 1:20 day game, it seems as though I could leave the BNSF Harlem Station close to my house at 11:12 p.m., arrive at Union Station at 11:42, and then walk over to LaSalle and jump on the Rock Island train at 12:30 to get to 35th St. in what, I assume, would be plenty of time for the first pitch. Not bad at all.

As of now, we have to take the BNSF downtown and then walk over to the Red or Green Line. This should be a little faster. Night games might involve a little more down time getting back depending on when the game ends but at least we can have a few beers in the Loop while we're waiting!

I hope this stop gets a lot of riders. Cutting congestion further is always a great thing.

Now we gotta get a Cubs stop on Addison!

That is one of my favorite train lines...

It would also be nice if the Metra stopped in front of the United Center, but there's probably too many stops already on those lines that pass it by between Western Ave & Union Station (Milwaukee North, Milwaukee West).

If they Move the Western Stop east to Damen, do you think people would use it to go to Bulls/ Blackhawks games?
