I have my wife, 8 year old, and another on the way. So we need a 3BR. I'd like a good public grade school and to be under 30min drivetime (it's the big att building in Hoffman). I'd like to stay under $1200 a month, any help would be appreciated.

Although it would probably be pushing your budget, look north of I-90 in Hoffman. You could get a place that's within 5 mins of commute, and get either Barrington or Palatine schools, both of which are highly regarded.

What about Algonquin? Does that compare to Palatine? Barrington seems great but seems to cost a lot more.

You can look from Elk Grove, which has addresses on both sides of 53, and feed different schools, to Schaumburg to Hoffman Estates, to Palatine, etc. I am a real estate agent, happy to help if you need it.

Hoffman Estates in the 60192 zip code has Palatine or Barrington Schools. Also, downtown Barrington often has homes/townhomes for rent.

That serves Hoffman, yes. Here is a map that shows what areas are served by the Barrington and Palatine districts, within H.E. Basically anything west of Huntington Bl will be in the Barrington 220 district, anything east will be in Palatine 211(?) district. If you need any additional help, let me know.

NO. Schools are not as good. Area is pretty, though.

there are houses in hoffman estates where you could basically see A T and T from your backyard (across this HUGE field). That area is served by Barrington schools and is pretty affordable. There were a LOT of kids that lived there back in the day, but i'm not sure about now.
