I'm going to suggest peotone. Small town living. Great schools. Metra 20 minutes up the road in University park. This is a great place for a kid to grow up.

These just give an idea, they don't tell the whole story, but they may give you a start on what districts to look at.

Thanks! That's just super info. Took a good look and gave me a great reference for areas. Thank you.

I am going to sound like a broken record becuase I often caution against relying on the poor stated mandated tests and the simplistic ranking of "percentage of meeting or exceeding" to do little more than document how poorly some students / schools are prepared.

I also have no idea why anyone would link to just the data from schools inside Cook Co that exclude CPS and DuPage Co.

Best Elementary Schools: DuPage County - Chicago magazine - October 2010 - Chicago

Best Elementary Schools: Chicago (Schools Ranked 1-250) - Chicago magazine - October 2010 - Chicago

The actual methodology of the "rankings" used by Chi Mag is also questionable. Apparently there is something in there formula that rewards schools that are larger or something else weird -- in my experience this is worse than useless as it confuses the actual data. Beyond that I think there are SO MANY FACTORS that should be important to anyone looking for a "top notch"school that cannot be conveyed in simplistic rankings.

Even among excellent schools the bone heads at Chi Mag lump in middle schools with elementary schools -- these are often in the same or neighboring districts and only confuse people.

Honestly, I would use the school rankings only as last resort to sorta put schools below a certain threshold as "risk"...
