Unfortunately, there is nowhere to put in an application if you're hoping to help with the construction. Just saying.

So, wait, this isn't a housing project?

A much needed place for the homeless in the south suburban area to live. It's county funded so it will be additional revenue for the village. It's no different than oak forest mental hospital or any other county funded facility. Why put a PADS in a low income area with fewer opportunities? There is plenty of retail in and around CC HILLS for the residents to find work. Country club hills, tinley park, orland park, and homewood all have plenty of retail jobs.
There is plenty of retail, but theirs not any public transportation to and from CC Hills. There's not even any public transportation within CC Hills. They will have to walk to work and theirs not even many sidewalks in this city.

It would be helpful for people to get their facts straight first. This is not public housing. It is transitional housing to provide an apartment for up to one year to people enrolled in a PADS program that helps them find a job, set up a savings account and develop other life skills.

PADS lands a permanent shelter for homeless in Country Club Hills - Chicago Tribune

I can see where you wouldn't want monsters like this inhabiting your community...

The article is titled "Preckwinkle Approves Housing Project in CC HIlls". This "permanent shelter" isn't that much different.

My main problem is with public transportation. How are they going to get around? And one year isn't enough to turn around people who have been homeless for much longer.

You have to have some type of transition someplace, i dont think its bad that it would be in country club hills.
Public transportation is in cch too
I am also almost positive if the homeless people have a place to stay they probably have access to a van that takes them to a work facility
Usually these types of jobs are very very low skill and they probably have a group that goes to work at one facility at one time.
On a different note I was reading where they were also considering building a holding facility for people waiting to be deported down in or around Crete, IL I guess it would hold up to 700 people who are in the US illegally , Does anyone know about this news? So the whole southland is becoming pads and cells

There is no public transit anywhere near this site, which is a big drawback. However, I do believe there are some transportation services available through PADS. Also, many homeless people do have cars. After all, it's not like they've been homeless since they were 16. With a low wage job and no savings, it's not that hard to lose your apartment and end up homeless, living out of your car. In other words, it's a recent development, not a lifelong problem for many of the people PADS serves. There are people who choose to remain homeless, and won't even avail themselves of shelters, let alone other services to help them re-enter the job market. However, I believe they would tend to gravitate towards the city where there is public transit and a greater density of people to make panhandling more productive.
