We're new to the area and planning for Grandpa, Grammy, Dad, and 5-year old birthday boy to go to the Cubs game on Sunday. Looking for suggestions on best way to get them there/home again.

I've found the info on PACE Wrigley Express from Schaumburg, the only problem I see is that you're committed to staying until 30 minutes after the game ends for the return trip, and I'm not sure the kiddo and/or Grammy will be able to hang for the entire game.

Any other suggestions? I don't mind driving them part way to some public transportation if that simplifies things (as long as it doesn't leave me stuck in traffic on the expressway for most of Sunday afternoon!).

Thanks very much! -Jen

I usually drive to the CTA station at Linden Av. in Wilmette(Purple Line-easy transfer to Red Line) or Dempster St. (Yellow Line-Easy transfer to Red Line) Both stations are end of the line and have ample parking. It does get crowded at the Addison St. station, but never had any issues. Getting to either station from AH is easy.

I know you can take the METRA to Irving Park, the Irving Park CTA bus (80) to Clark and Irving Park and walk 1/2 a mile to the stadium, but there is a possibility that your time of arrival at the METRA station at Irving Park will not coincide with a METRA train, and you will end up waiting some time.

I'll second that. Easiest way to go. No parking to worry about.

Personally, I would drive down I-90 to the Cumberland Blue Line station, park in the garage, and take the Blue Line to the Addison station, grab the #152 Addison bus to Waveland.

I prefer that to the METRA on Sundays as there is a TWO HOUR wait between trains. In other words, if you don't make the 4:50 train out of rhe city, you are there until 6:50 pm which is a real PITA.

The Blue Line runs every 15-20 minutes.
