We are young retired seniors who want to move to Bouronnais into an apartment, like to travel. What areas are safe, good eateries and shopping with decent apartments? Is there a definite area to steer clear of? What is the best way to find an apartment in Bourbonnais? We are from the west Chicago suburbs. Any advice will help. Thanks so much.

There are no rough spots in Bourbanais, definitely not as far as safety is concerned. It's not Kankakee.

I was just in Bourbanais last night - Ate at Brickstone Brewery with my stepdad and relaxed at Barnes And Noble by myself. I have a feeling the area is not entirely how you picture it. Have you been there much, if at all? It feels like Chicago suburbia with moderate traffic and moderate crowds and all.. It's when you drive out, you realize where you are. I say it with love for the deep deep south but I really have no idea what would bring a west suburbanite out to Bourbonnais, retired or not.

Change in our cost of living leaves more money for travel.

There is a retirement mfg home community in Monee,IL

It would be a lot diff for you because its kind of remote but its a slower pace.

It's a trailer park / wannabe gated community for the retired. I say "wannabe" because there aren't literal gates but I know I'm not allowed to trespass. Right there on Court Street in Monee. I'd say it's more "worry free" than an apartment - any apartment.

Unfortunately Monee is still too north to get that cheap ass cost of living you were talking about. One town south of here in Peotone, you got it though. It's funny how that works..
