I just got to thinking after watching 'Sixteen candles' starring Molly Ringwald. I loved the homes and scenery in the film. His other films "Ferris Bueler' 'Breakfast Club' 'Weird Science' and 'Risky Business' all had great settings in north shore suburbs. What is your opinion on the most iconic John Hughes burb?

Lots of the exteriors were shot in Winnetka and the visuals of the films do a good job of capturing the "look" of the homes even if though most interiors were shot in studios.

Towns further inland generally have pretty obvious differences -- everything from vegetation to street layout is a give away...

Winnetka and Glencoe. Although, IIRC Sixteen Candles was shot at Niles East (RIP) and Breakfast Club at Maine North (RIP)

Don't forget the movie "She's having a baby", lots of outside and street shots.

The Home Alone house in Winnetka was on the market a few years ago, as was Cameron's house from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Highland Park). I'd be curious to hear from residents of these houses how many people drive by and take pictures.

I've seen a lot of pictures of the Home Alone house online. I have never seen a picture of the Ferris Bueller's Day off house online before.
