Time flies and we are moving to Evanston in a week! Do Evanstonians have opinions about best internet service providers, e.g., comparing between Comcast and ATT? If it makes a difference, we are in SE Evanston and are not currently users of cable, just internet (although its conceivable we could add cable some day). Thanks!

I don't think there's anything unique about Evanston that makes getting cable internet vs. DSL different in that location than it is anywhere else. If you need the highest speeds the obviously Comcast/cable is the way to go. If you are okay with less than the highest possible speed then DSL will work just as well.

As far as I'm concerned, Comcast and AT&T are both evil. It's mostly a matter of who has the lowest price/best deal when you're setting up the service. Pay attention to your bill and when the promo rate expires call them and ask for a new deal and threaten to cancel. If they don't give you a good price then switch to the other provider. Rinse, repeat.
