Hey guys,
We recently moved from out of state to Downtown Chicago. My wife got a job working as an RN at Edward Hospital in Naperville and we're trying to figure out commuting options. She'll be working nights (7pm to 7am) which would mean traffic would likely be brutal. The other option is the Metra (Union st is close to us), but the problem is getting from the Metra station in Naperville to the hospital.

Do you guys know of any options to go from Metra -> Hospital?

thanks!
Sammy

Walk. Its, what, ten blocks? They're small blocks too, through the heart of downtown Naperville. Heck, she'll probably pass people making the same hike in the opposite direction.

check PACE bus schedule and routes, that may work, but not sure if it would start in time for her schedule.

I bet it is a 30 minute walk.

It's 0.9 miles and 18 minutes on foot per Google Maps from the commuter station to Edward Hospital. If she's not used to the cold, she'll want to layer when the weather gets really cold (end of December through February typically). Here's the PACE bus schedule page:

Thanks for the info guys! She's a southern gal, so telling her to walk a mile in the blistering cold will likely end in me sleeping on a couch. PACE is also tough just because of scheduling, but may be able to make it work

thanks again for the info!

What about zip car? Is that an option for you?

That's not going to work for commuting. I'd suggest walking or biking, then taking a taxi when its too cold.

I'd suggest moving to Naperville for the sake of your marriage. That commute will wear your poor wife down in no time.

You know, if you work downtown you might consider a move to Naperville like Lookout Kid suggests ... It's an easy metra commute downtown from the rt 59 or washington st station ...

Either station has excellent service, but horrible parking. Either live within walking distance or plan on using one of the remote lots with shuttle bus to station.
