Hello everyone,

I was wondering if I might get some advice as to where I might look for an affordable place to live. I'm tentatively planned to move in mid-January following a job offer in Warrenville, so this will be a last minute move for me (I currently live outside of Philadelphia). I've been looking around online to see what options I might have, but it seems as though many of the apartments available are located on large complexes and cost at a minimum of $950+ for a 1 bedroom (I would be open to a studio if it had a semi-private sleeping area).

Does anyone know of any sites that I may be missing for apartment rentals? I was hoping that Craigslist would have a mix of smaller buildings (with possibly cheaper rent), but I'm not seeing much. Any advice would be much appreciated.

If I had an ideal list of everything I wanted to have an apartment, it would be:

-Rent: Under $1,050 (?) per month. I'm not exactly sure what extra costs there may be, taxes, etc., so I'm trying to be conservative with my budget.

-Within a reasonable car commute to Warrenville (~15 minutes or less?). I've been looking at and around Lisle, Wheaton, Naperville, etc., but would really like to be east of Warrenville (northeast, east-east, or southeast) and somewhat close to a train station (should I feel like heading into Chicago).

-Cat friendly/ I don't want to spend a ton in cat rent as I've never had to pay it at any of my other apartments.

-Some utilities included--I've always paid for electric only, but it seems as though many of the places I've looked at charge for ALL utilities! (I'm not sure how I feel about that at the moment...)

-A washer and dryer IN-UNIT would be a dream for me. If I'm paying ~$1,000/month in rent, I am really hoping for that little amenity.

-Within *walking distance* to attractions, restaurants, stores, etc. I currently live in a very walkable town (well, borough), and have enjoyed it immensely.

-Good kitchen (I enjoy cooking)

-Parking (lot is fine)

-Bonus points if the apartment has wood flooring.

Thanks!

Wheaton has the best downtown of the places east of Warrenville, Naperville has a very active downtown, but it's west. Wheaton and Naperville are both on train lines downtown. Check out the Daily Herald for suburban real estate listings: Wheaton news, events, sports, business and photos - DailyHerald.com

Have you checked Village Green at Cantera? We paid $1000 for a 2 bedroom a few years back when we were renting in the area. Im sure the rent has gone up, but its worth a shot, its a nice complex in a great area.

Craigslist:

Warm & Cozy Premier 1 Bedroom Apartment Home

Right in the middle of downtown Wheaton, across from Metra station. Guessing you can negotiate that price lower, esp given the construction sitch. Cat friendly, but not sure about the in-unit laundry.

Here is the web site for the building:

There is a complex on Washington and Warrenville Rd that might be good. Very very close to Warrenville and very close to Wheaton as well.

Luxury Apartments in Naperville at AMLI Naperville
