There has been talk of eliminating unincorporated areas in cook county, do you think it will ever happen, and is so when?

Not in our lifetimes. A lot of residents don't want to be in villages. A lot of villages aren't interested in bringing in residential property since it doesn't pay much tax revenue. The whole idea is that if all Cook County is incorporated the Sheriffs police can be greatly cut.

Good point about the sheriffs police being cut.

I lived in unincorporated lake county in a very old neighborhood. We fought like hell as village after village tried to annex us. The residents just preferred it that way.

Although places like Grandwood Park, Diamond Lake, and Wildwood are urban, they are in fact unincorporated and under the jurisdiction of the County. But so far, at least, the Lake County sheriff doesn't mind patrolling them. Perhaps some will incorporate as "paper villages" sometime in the future.
