My boyfriend and I are attending a labor day weekend wedding in Homewood, IL at an outdoor botanical garden. We are suffering through the 103-105 heat in Austin Texas this Summer and I am curious what weather to expect in Homewood and downtown Chicago this time of year?

The extended forecasts say highs in the 90s but it is really that hot? What type of clothing will we need to be prepared? (I.e. will it be too cold at night for sandals but too hot during the day for jeans?)

Thanks much!

Hard to forecast, but September in Chicago/Homewood is usually perfect with highs right around 70 every day.

It will be either 90-100 or 50-60.

Its really hard to tell. Usually the weather is in the high seventies but its variable...could be really warm or it could drop to the sixties. I'd say bring some kind of light wrap with you.

I'm usually wearing my parka with a stylish pair of matching shorts.

Yep, this isn't an exaggeration. It's a very unpredictable time of year.

Average daytime highs are not 70 in the beginning of September.

I would expect closer to 80 degrees around Labor Day, with the possibility of a very hot day, or a cool one.

Be prepared.

You know Labor Day is only a week away, which means the weather forecast is available. It's supposed to be over 90 degrees all weekend.
