All,

I accepted a position in downtown and looking at options. I know threads have been posted about this but I want updated info. I know I will not get a parking permit in two weeks. Too many people ahead of me.

If I get to Naperville Downtown Metra by 6:00am-6:30am, what is the odds of me getting a $2.00 daily parking spot.

also...Why is the Kroehler parking for non resident more expensive than Burlington/Parkview?
$135 vs $120

Default The lots tend to fill up as related to the train schedule...

The 5:53 is basically half as fast as the 6:03 & 6:20. Park like you are taking the 5:53, then get a coffee. By the 6:45, on many days, lots are full..

I have not worked in the downtown Naperville for years, and my friends that used to live there have moved to Las Vegas, so I don't have direct experience. That said, every contact I have had with the very professional staff in the Naperville municipal offices leads believe they probably collect data on this and it is almost certainly very accurate -- I'd send a note or call: Kevin Apgar

All,

I took a drive to Naperville Metra this morning to experience the madness this morning.. and madness it was.

Weather: Very Foggy and Ice on Windshield morning at 31F degrees

I arrived at 6:26am and it was getting crazy already.. at this point daily fee parking is 80% full overall for all spots . These were most likely taken up by people taking the 6:20am.

~6:30am If you trying to park south of Naperville Metra, forget about it. Spring Road was full, south of train on the street parking was full. 4th street parking lot had 10-15 spots left.

~6:35am Kroehler parking had a row of parking left 15-20 spots and the street north of Kroehler (6th Street)was empty. There were some spot open on 5th avenue as well.

~6:35am-6:40am Cars flowing in for the 6:45am train.

~6:45am All spots full. YOU are SOL.

~6:50pm Checked the Dupage Childrens Museum. It was FULL. I thought people would balk at paying $5 for parking.. I guess the nice cars in these spots explain themselves...

So. stay away from this place after 6:30am if you really want to get into Chicago.

If you want a spot come at 6:00am. If you are taking the 6:20am training, I am confident you will get daily fee parking on a regular day.

Metra Naperville parking is really stressful.. not sure if you want to start off the day this way. If you want sanity, Route 59 might be better.

hence why walking distance to a station in any town raises its value/price - especially in the desirable towns...

No but the Canterbury park and ride has a bus to Lisle station. Though it probably doesn't make the 6:00 AM train.

good information..

Be at Canterbury Park and Ride at 6:21am for Union station arrival at 7:28am. Not bad.

http://www.pacebus.com/pdf/schedules/825sched.pdf

Monthly cost would be ~$200 for metra and pace
