Hi all.. My family and I are looking at purchasing a home in Carol Stream and I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the schools there. I have heard mixed results and even through my own online research haven’t gotten a solid impression of the schools. Are the schools out here solid or would we be better off looking at another nearby suburb? Any help is appreciated.

Wheaton is way better. I'd look there instead.

For schools I'd check out Illinoisreportcard.com. It's a good resource for evaluating each school in any area you're considering. Carol stream was an area we considered upon initially moving here and having lived here for a while and driven through carol stream a couple of times I'd say it's a pretty nice area overall. I think the schools in the wheaton area are much better though. Wheaton is much more high profile though if you're not already aware OP. Much more highly sought after area. I had a buddy who lived near carol stream and they really enjoyed it. They said the parks district was great.

Wheaton was too expensive for us too. Check out winfield in addition to carol stream. It's a nice area. Make sure you check out the school districts though. Part of winfield is service by west chicago schools (not good) and the other part is by wheaton schools I believe (very good).

Also check out Warrenville. They go to Wheaton schools.
