I am famliar with western suburbs- sorry for the lack of experience - but kind of new to chicago. What is the New Trier - that keeps coming up in everything?

Its one of the better high schools in chicago land (north shore ). It seems to keep coming up all the time with just one poster.

Default Here we go again...

You'll find tons of comments on New Trier, both on these boards and on the web. It is ranked high academically. It's probably the only Highschool in the Chicago area where parents regularly drive around with stickers on their car bragging about the fact their kids go there. I'm not talking about honor roll stickers, I'm talking "NT" or "Trevian" stickers as if it were some College (which some argue it is). You may find some folks have a religous-like fervor for the institution. I thought it was a little overrated, but I'm just a jaded guy . For those of you who currently live in the district, I mean no offense to you. I'm sure your children will get a wonderful education.

OH MY!! I was on Roosevelt Rd in Wheaton the other day and saw a NT sticker on the back of the car in front of me. Being in Wheaton I thought NT meant New Testament or something religious but perhaps it was a New Trier sticker!

I went to New Trier, back in the early 90s. it's a good school and I had a great experience. However, I think there are many other great highschools throughout the region that are just as good if not better (Stevenson comes to mind). I think NT gets a lot of press because of the snootiness of the northshore and that people can trace it to a few John Hughes movies back in the 80's.

As for stickers, I see similar stickers all over the area. Out in Aurora, I see the West High school sticker on countless cars featuring a big "W" or their racist Indian head symbol. Sorry if that comment offends anyone, but I really don't like those symbols.

You sure that "W" isn't for George W. Bush?

Yeah, I agree. There are lots of good high schools producing stellar students throughout the chicagoland area.
