We are moving to Elmhurst in the next 2 weeks and are very active in our Chicago Neighborhood Community. Can someone offer suggestions on how to become active in community organizations in Elmhurst? I know we will likely join a Catholic Parish so we will meet new people through there, but looking for mom's groups and neighborhood type groups to meet new people for myself and my children.

If your kids are in school, the best way is to join the pta. They are all very active and allows you to meet other involved parents. If your kids are younger, the park district classes are great. I used to meet many parents just at the parks playing with my kids. You'll find ELmhurst very friendly for the most part. Best of luck. It is a great community.

I agree with an earlier post meetup.com has a lot of groups where you can meet local moms. If you are looking for places to go and things to do with your kids you should check out kidwinks.com it is a great resource for parents and it's free.
