I am in IT too(i have actually worked in that north clark building a couple of times) and from talking with my indian co-workers, if they do live in chicago, its on the North Side, which has a high indian population in certain areas.

Most of them live in the suburbs. Areas like Naperville, Boilingbrook and Schaumburg have apartments and high indian populations. Unfortunately, your commute will be 45-60 mins if you move to any of those suburbs.

Location is everything. You need an address of your work place before you look for a location to live.
Chicago land is big place. It is a long communte form north suburb to the south side.

Yeah, from Rte 59 (Naperville/Aurora) the train ride is ~40 minutes, plus you would have a 10-15 min walk over to clark. I mention this as there is a large # of Indians getting on the train at Rte 59.

hi folks

does anybody have idea about northwest suburbs of chicago...which are safe and not very expensive

I came to know from my HR Rep that mostly all projects are located near Northwest and Northern suburbs

few ppl suggest me Schaumburg, situation is like for initially one month I will be to north clark..
but may soon require to travel to northwest suburbs

what i was thinking I should go for sublets for few months in the middle
can you guys suggest me something please...something which safe and commute time is ok 30-40 mins
with asian popualtions

thanks for favors!!

Schaumburg's not a bad idea, but I'd also look into other NW suburbs such as Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Elk Grove Village, Glenview, etc. to keep your options open.

There are Indians all over Chicagoland. You will not be lonely. As for software engineers, that's just getting a bit picky (what's wrong with electrical engineers?).

If I were you, to make life more livable on a daily basis, LIVE AS CLOSE TO YOUR WORK AS POSSIBLE.
