I'm planning on moving to Oak Park and found a deal right around Roosevelt and Ridgeland. How's that area? I love Oak Park in general, but I'm not sure about that specific location. Heard Austin area is bad, but that's still some ways away... Thanks in advance for the input!

Should be fine, I have friends who live east of there. Is it in the brand new condos there?

Just fine. Roosevelt Road is really changing for the better. As you probably saw, there's several new condo and loft projects going up there. Wishbone just opened a new restaurant right next to FitzGeralds on the Berwyn side. Oak Park, Berwyn, and Cicero are entering into an intergovernmental agreement to improve the corridor. Even in much maligned Austin, there's a really cool place called the Depot Diner on Roosevelt just east of Austin Ave. that must be checked out. This is definitely the time to buy around there. I don't think it will stay inexpensive for much longer.

As much as I like my current neighborhood (north OP), part of me wishes we bought near Roosevelt Rd, for the appreciation potential.
