My husband and I (and let's not forget our 8 month old!) will likely be relocating to Naperville as, although it is far from the city, it seems to offer the most "city-like" atmosphere of any suburb I've seen (great mix of shopping, restaurants, community events, etc.) and the commute via Metra seems do-able if you get on an express train. To make our transition the most seamless, we would ideally be in walking distance to the downtown area. It seems as though you can find hidden gems in the mix of million dollar homes close to downtown which may be our best bet for return on investment but I'd be curious to hear if anyone knew of neighborhoods just outside of downtown that we should also check out. We are city people so a mile walk is nothing. Ideally, the neighborhood would be no more than 2 miles outside of downtown Naperville. Our price range is up to $450K. Thanks in advance!
