worst parts of wheeling (Chicago, McHenry: apartments, crime, living)

what would you say are the very worst parts of wheeling for crime and gang problems?

you have about 5 posts regarding Wheeling and stated you are going to or have rented an apartment in Wheeling. Why not spend a few hours driving around? Certainly you're not going to do it all via the internet? Stop by the Police Dept and tell them the apartments you are considering and ask their opinion on how safe they are or "Would you be OK with a family member or friend living there?"
From what I see, I would avoid area south of Palwaukee(Chicago Executive Airport) and avoid the area around Wolf and Dundee and Rte 83 between Old McHenry & Dundee.

Agree with cubssoxfan. The problem isn't what you would expect. There aren't tons of people hanging out on street corners. It tends to be in certain shopping centers and in apartment rec centers.
