Thank you for your replies.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in NYC with my spouse and I pay $1200. I hope I can get lesser rates in north brook.
May be I could consider neighboring areas to live so that we could commute to office by public transport/car.

I think university of illinois is in Chicago. Hopefully, I can travel to attend graduate school there on a daily basis.

Any opinions?

They have good metra system there. Much better than NJ. One bedroom apartment won't cost you more than $1,000 as One of my friend owns a condo and his mortgage is around $1300 or less for 2 bedroom condo.

I am renting a room near all state. contact me at djtapori@gmail.com

I am moving by myself. my wife is in NJ. I will be visiting her once or twice a month. I am renting a room so mostly 2 or 3 people sharing an apartment. I own a house in NJ so i need to see the cost effectiveness. You can easily find one bedroom apartment in Northbrook and near by areas.
