I was at the Taste yesterday and every other sentence I heard was "Let's get me sum mother f@#* pizza" I felt vulnerable without my shank. Maybe they should have it at Washington Park next year.

What time did you go? I've noticed in the past that during the early Afternoon there's what looks like a typical lunch crowd but later on in the day it changes.

I went around 6pm. I thought I walked onto the set for the new "Warriors" movie. Warriors, come out to play.

Tell that to Dino Danelli, Liberty DeVitto, Corky Laing and Tommy Ramone.

I went to the Taste and it was nothing like that. In fact, I went twice this year; once during the week and once on the weekend. There was not much pushing or anything else. I recognized a black medical student from Pittsburgh, a black father from Oak Park with his daughter and a black accountant with his wife and kids. I did not get to speak with a black mother of a law student who attends my church, but I saw her. None of those folks reside in Englewood, by the way.

People should understand that in a city with a minority population of 60% public festivals are going to attract many minorities. Many of these folks will not speak with the same accent as others.

The race-bating on this forum continues to depress me. Also, Washington Park is not near Englewood. They were having a Caribbean festival in Washington Park as people enjoyed the Taste.

My experience has been that if you engage young black males in a respectful, friendly manner they will respond in kind. Some people dress and talk different than you. In a big city you should be ready for that.

Loop panhandlers come in all types of ethnicities. Since I office in the loop I can tell you that they are not confined to any one particular ethnic group or race and it is not hardly 1 out of 1000. If the people begging money offend your sensibilities so, you should ignore them and walk on, feeling superior.
