ive been holdin off on signin this lease for a 2BR garden apt. (basement) near N. Elston & W. Montrose..the unit is $700/month with central a/c, heat, electricity included..is this good deal??..

the unit is in great condition with new windows, kitchen, bathroom, and tiles and front & back entrances with coin laundry....seein as how im from Miami i was needing that central a/c so thats a good tradeoff

all i would be paying is cooking gas...about how much is this per month on the average considering it will only be me for a couple of months??

or could i find something cheaper elsewhere and pay for utitlities myself??...

please note that i consider this neighborhood fairly safe...ive read the crime statistics on it and they dont seem outrageously disproportionate

it's a good deal, it will be hard to find something cheaper, it's possible but not likely. About the gas utility bill, don't worry, you will be probably paying less than $50/month, maybe even less, depends how often you cook

In the winter, for that apartment size, you should be paying anywhere between $80-$100, it depends on the temperature you set your thermostat at. In my loft, around 1100 sq ft with high ceilings, I pay around $200, but I keep the temp at 75F the whole time.

Good luck

I agree that this is a great deal. I have never heard of anyplace in the Chicago area being as low as 750. Sign the lease!
