Hi everyone, from everyblock.com, it seems the corner of Roosevelt and State has a lot of robberies (even more incidences than the area around 35th red line station), is it really that bad? The corner seems very busy to me. If I choose to use red line frequently and get out from the station near that corner after 9PM frequently, do I need to worry? Thanks!

I always thought it was pretty safe. Everyblock.com is usually right, but can be wrong. At night time, the area is a little quiet because there is not much nightlife. Also, you are near the Park and the park attracts undesirables.

You'll be fine. I lived at 14th and State for a year, never saw anything out of the ordinary.

My girlfriend went to Columbia and I used to meet her at that corner regularly. This was mostly in the day time, but I never witnessed any sort of crime. It's always good to be aware of your surroundings though, since robberies can happen in every neighborhood.

The issue in the area is probably a lot of downtown tourists getting robbed esp. at night when the area is much quiter. 35th street at the redline isn't that bad an area and I would expect that during sox games there is plenty of police coverage.

There is a large homeless shelter in the area. That is one reason for the high number of robberies.
