Honestly I am just waiting for prices to go back up so I can sell and get the hell out of here. I am just at the end of my rope with this place and the ever increasing taxes, crime and political BS that goes on here. If we can get real estate back on track and I can sell and get out of here, I will be very very happy. Maybe move to Arlington Heights, Schaumburg. Anyplace but the city will be fine with me. It is really ashamed because I was born here, went to school here (Senn) and planned to die here. I love this city but I hate what it has become.

Well unless you plan on never reading a newspaper or watching the news again you're not going to really be escaping anything in Arlington Heights or Schaumburg. What you'll save in sales tax you'll pay twice over in property tax. Then there's the cost of needing to drive everywhere.

Yeah I know. But at least my car will be there for me to drive in the morning.

East Rogers Park. Expensive as hell and not worth it really. Having the lake close is nice but not when we are having rolling shoot outs on the street, my car stolen and all the other things that seem to go on around this area these days. Like I said I grew up here and will miss some of the things I love about the city but not what it has become.

Move to a better area of the city. Go straight west from where you are at young man.

I may consider it. It is hard to leave when my significant other can walk to the train and go to work and I can drive a few miles west to my job. Moving west of Clark would be a better place to live but I would have to get up early to drop her off at the Morse stop before going to my own job. Thought about Evanston too but it is expensive to live there.

So it recently got more expensive and dangerous around there ("I hate what it has become")? I recall it always being a pretty so-so/sketchy area, actually feels less creepy now than in the 80s.
