I don't know...you'll have time to decide whether or not you want to take CTA from there. Remember, paperwork, lunch, etc...still gotta walk home after you get off the bus.

Well, if you are in Lakeview you could survive without a car. Also if you want to live in an area with people in that age range Lakeview isn't bad. But like people said here if you really want freedom to explore you should have a car. In fact you kind of do need to drive to most places here, but in Lakeview at least you can catch a cab to anywhere but be mindful of getting back and know the numbers of cab companies because it's easy to go somewhere but getting back can be a little harder.

If you get a school in Lakeview consider yourself very lucky.

I did once know a HS teacher here in NYC who could have used her car, but at first chose not to, because the subway was close to both home and school. She ultimatley decided to drive anyway because she told me, "I look at those kids and those teachers every day. I'll be damend if I look at them on the way home too."

Just something to think about.
