First of all "11th grade" as it is called here is not college, it's still High School. So you pretty much just show up and go to public school I guess. It's only during 12th grade that you should start worrying about getting into college. Better practice taking the SAT, especially your verbal reasoning.

You need to look at specific schools and what their international admissions requirements are. A decent school will have this available via their admissions office.

zvt10 - shockingly enough, most countries have their own systems of education, grade/class 11 in India does not mean the same thing it means here.

DePaul University, University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), Northwestern University, Loyola University, University of Chicago. Notes: Northwestern and U of Chicago -costly and hard to get into.

Why don't you look at some of their websites? Also contact the Indian Student Assn at UIC or DePaul?? Here are some links.

Really? It turns out that I am familiar with the system in India. More than you obviously are. In India 10th grade is the end of high school and they compete to go to "pre-university" college. It is at this point that they choose a commerce stream or arts stream or science stream for 2 years before they apply to actual college. It is completely different from the system here where you don't compete until after 12th grade and don't don't choose a major (or otherwise limit yourself) until your 2nd year of actual college. The transition from 10th to 11th here does not involve any competition and is simply a continuation of high school which is what I was pointing out to him.

As for you, souvikroy1111, will you please use Google and learn some basic things about the American educational system before you ask another ridiculous question? Go find out what a grade point average is. There are no "percentages" here.

zvt10 - fair enough, but it was impossible to tell that from your first post.

I never claimed to be an expert on Indian education, I just simply was aware that there were significant differences from the US system to the point that 'grades' had their own meaning. Having taught briefly in a system outside the US, I am well aware of the educational differences around the world, so I'm sorry if I offended you in my previous post, but I honestly could not tell that you were speaking from a knowledge of the Indian system from what you posted.
