Some of those may have been shot long ago, even when the "air date" is not too far in the past my sense is the production time may have been far in the past.

Even though Canda is, overall, a BIG country its cities are rather compact and the desirability of stuff in the core or Toronto where Property Virgins usually is active remains quite high -- they did not have the sort of bubble we did nor did the have the subsequent major deflation. Even in parts of the US where the sorts of camera friendly upscale high income first time buyers that Property Virgins seems to seek out can be found the smart sellers have priced desirable properties in such a way to attract serious bids from potential home owners.

It might be interesting to combine some of the aspects of "The Unsellables" with some of the "bottom feeding" investor type buyers and see sellers blanche at real low ball offers while investors unemotionally mow through dozens of offers, but somehow I doubt that would attract the kind of sponsors that HGTV traditionally has -- instead of "friendly neighborhood nationwide lenders", name brand national real estate chains, and various renovation product firms they would probably have fly-by-night law firms, hard money lenders with sick rates and haul away dumpster companies...

We are a young (early 20s), white couple. We are both students and have a very limited budget, so anything higher than $800/month would be a stretch for us. I walk our dog a lot and I would like a neighborhood where I could do this (maybe near a park), and where I can take him out to use the restroom at night, etc without feeling unsafe. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you
Check out the area around 14th & Morgan. Very dog friendly - and lots of families and UIC students. It's going to be tough at $800 though, so as others have suggested you can take a look at the Pilsen area or closer to the medical district, around Racine/Roosevelt and Harrison. Those areas are a bit rougher/poorer though. Things are changing however - they're putting a new police station on racine and 14th, and apparently a Costco will be opening up a couple of blocks west of there sometime next year.
