I'm graduating from college next week, and I found a place in the bucktown/wicker park area, which I'm pretty excited about.

I'll be graduating with a degree in graphic design, but after throwing out many resumes it seems finding a design job is easier said than done.

I'm into the rock and art scene, and I have a ton of tattoos. I was gonna look into a bartending gig or something else that i can be relaxed and myself (and not cover up my arms) for the time being.

Anyone have any advice? Where to look? What to expect?

If anyone needs a designer feel free to contact me.

Nice work.

I will be honest, graphic design is really tough right now to get a job in. Especially in Chicago, were a profession like that is HIGHLY competitive. However, I think freelancing is a really good way to start, even if it pays **** in the beginning it will help to get some professional work on your portfolio.

Speaking of which, I currently work in creative marketing. We might need some freelance work in the near future. I am good at graphic design, not good enough to be a full fledged graphic designer myself, but I get so busy, that I can't really dedicate too much time to graphic design at work. So I might seek out some help from a freelancer in the near future.

Anyway, I would look for graphic design jobs, other jobs just so you can get some $$$ and also do freelancing at the same time. You are bound to get something out of those three in the near future.
