Coming into the Near South Side of Chicago (closest El is Roosevelt) for a stay starting later tonight through the weekend. We didn't anticipate the super hot temperatures and I'm needing to investigate getting a rental car due to health problems for one of our party. I have no idea what's in store for being able to park overnight or during the day in the vicinity of S Michigan Ave. near E 16th St. Dare I hope that overnight parking is permissible without a residential sticker? Are there time limits in effect during the day? Any insider info will be much appreciated! Thanks so much in advance...having a panic moment.

I suggest you park outside for free at 17th and Federal or 17th and Dearborn. No sticker or fee is necessary. There are no time limits or restrictions on overnights.

Be warned that it is near the police station.

Nearby parking lots are fairly cheap, around $8 a day give or take. There are lots at 14th and Michigan and 14th and Wabash that my family and pals use when they visit. From 14th to 16th on Michigan is one block, a rather long one but one.
