I've lived in Lakeview for 4 years now and my Roommate has found a killer Apt in Ravenswood Manor I'm a little nervous because it seems so far away! Both of us work in River North, but the housing there is too much for us! She has school at 6 am and off Chicago and Orleans and we are trying to find a safe neighborhood at 5am for her to travel from! Just some details about each hood would be awesome! Thanks!!!

Ravenswood Manor is very, very, very, very residential. It is like the suburbs. I've only been up there a few times but that was my take.

Unless you are retirement age I would stick to Ukranian Village, you are just so much closer to things.

Isn't Ravenswood Manor near Lincoln Square?

I think you are making it sound more residential than it really is. There is a lot going on in that area, however not nearly as much as in Ukranian Village. However I feel as if Ravenswood Manor is too far north for my tastes.

Overall I would pick Ukranian Village.

Ravenswood Manor is right next to LS. Plenty going on, just not the same as Ukranian Village.

It's super safe too.

Depending on where in the Manor you are, it is a pretty easy walk to Lincoln Square, as others have said. I used to live on Wilson and would walk through Ravenswood Manor all of the time to get to the Rockwell strip and Lincoln Square. You'd also be served by the Francisco and Rockwell brown line stops too.

I think the Kedzie Ave stop is going to be closes to us...it's pretty much located at Kedzie and Montrose

I don't consider that to be Ravenswood Manor at all. That's more just plain and simple Albany Park. Ukrananian Village definitely has a lot more going on, but Albany Park is good too. They are just two completely different vibes.

There is really not much going on there. Unless you really like tacquerias, Lebanese food, Latin dance clubs, and the occasional gang fight/shooting, stick to Ukrainian Village -- though given how far you were off thinking Kedzie and Montrose is Ravenswood Manor, I'd suggest making sure the other place is actually in Ukrainian Village.

Yeah,

Having spent some time at Wilson/Kedzie, there is no way I'd go back. I'd pick (really in) Ukrainian Village in a heartbeat.

I'd rather take the Brown Line at 5am than the Chicago Ave bus at 5am.
