And with more time you learn that the wave is something people offer as they are about to do something extremely rude and/or unsafe. It becomes a "Hey, look at me - I'm about to do a U turn right in front of you so that you have screeching to as halt!"

I will say it's pretty effective at reducing the road rage though. It's hard to get angry at someone smiling and waving at you, even when they are doing something unbelievably stupid.

Yeah, I noticed that early on about Chicago drivers after I moved here. Except that I always received the smile and wave immediately after the driver did "something unbelievably stupid".

Oh right, smiling and waving makes everything OK.

Colorado and Wisconsin have the unsavory reputation of writing a large amount of speeding tickets so that is probably why there is a huge difference in driving styles.

When I drive Chicago-style in Indiana, I get ticketed. When I drive Indiana-style in Chicago, I get honked at. Switching gears (no pun intended) between these two modes is difficult.

Video: The Worst/Best Hit And Run Video In Chicago [UPDATE]: Chicagoist
That will be the first and last most unskilled Chicago driver I have ever seen. Here is my opinion.
Top 3 most aggressive cities for drivers

NYC-Very aggressive, plain and simple
Miami-Drive 100 mph over a lot, lots of weavers
Chicago-Drive 100 mph over a lot, lots of weavers, a little bit less than Miami, difference is Miami is unskilled Chicago is skilled while NYC is also skilled.

Apparently that SUV was stolen. The driver hit a tree shortly afterwards and was arrested. You should probably learn how to drive before stealing a car.

Man oh man, that was something. The only way I could describe it is - stupid (suv) or maybe
we should say SVU (special victims unit).
