It started snowing at 10am, didn't see any snowplows or salt trucks on Irving Park which is a big and VERY busy street. Is the city to broke or is it because it was rush hour?
Anybody know?

I just started a thread asking basically this same thing...this snow storm is extremely mild for Chicago...usually you see the trucks parked and ready to go just from the anticipation of a storm. I have not seen one truck and the streets around my house have not been touched. This is really weird.

The trucks were around mid afternoon keeping the streets clear (at least around Ashland, Foster and Lawrence). I think they got stuck in traffic, on my way home I saw one on Lawrence and one on Western both crawling along with traffic. I was on foot and left them in the dust.

Clearstreets has updates on what's been plowed recently.

It is difficult for the trucks to plow when its bumper to bumper traffic.

It was a storm for goodness sakes.

The city and state and most villages actually have a surplus this year that was allocated for their winter budgets.

Money is set aside in the budget .

The Tribune just had an article on this a few weeks ago.

Horrible timing for the storm, right when everyone is out and about on a friday afternoon. The streets were messy, but I think people noticed more cause it wasn't at night or an off-hour. I saw plows all over yesterday afternoon when walking around.

Yeah it certainly was bad timing 60614 , and the snow was coming down at a good clip.

Hard to keep up with a storm that was a real slow slow mover. The equipment can only cover so much ground right.
