I have a family member traveling to Chicago and is scheduled to arrive in Concourse C and get to Concourse F in less than an hour. Is there an airport shuttle service between these concourses to save time and prevent going through security again?

I believe that Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are all connected past security and can be transferred between on foot.

Concourse C is in Terminal 1 and F is in Terminal 2, so that's a little less walking than if it were between 1 and 3. However, Concourse C is the weird United one where you have to walk underground to Concourse B first and then walk to Terminal 2.

See the orange "To Terminal 2" indicator on this map.

All in all, I would expect it could all be walked very leisurely in 20 minutes, but an hour is a fairly tight turnaround if there are delays. I assume baggage is not being checked.

Default Ohare International

I have been there several times myself and walked within terminal 1. I have never had a need to go to terminal 2. I am just trying to make her more at ease with the situation and thought there might be a shuttle between the two terminals. I know it takes a while to de-plane, and get to the extreme ends of the terminals. Hopefully once she arrives, the terminal is changed and she is able to stay within the terminal she arrives in.

Sure wish I could call Ohare for information but all I seem to get are machine answers.

I assume it's two different airlines, in which case it's incredibly unlikely that they'll be at the same terminal (if one of the airlines is either AA or United).

How old is the relative? If she is elderly / infirm / injured / otherwise not capable of walking you can arrange for a wheelchair...

That is a relatively easy transfer. No need to pass through security again and you can just walk. They are interconnected. It won't be much further than the furthest B gate would be. United uses parts of terminal 2 aside from all of terminal 1 and they know how long it takes and its not that long. A normal person should be able to make the walk in 15 minutes or so.

i believe Concourse C is in Terminal 1 and F is in Terminal 2. They should be connected, but in case they can't walk that fast or whatever, there's always the ATS train if it's close. It should be only one stop on there. I usually never use the ATS though unless i'm going in/out of the international terminal (Terminal 5) and shouldn't be needed really..

Yes, there is a shuttle.

There is a stairway going down just outside gate C9 in the C concourse. You will probably see a lot of people lined up outside it. The shuttle goes to a similar staircase just outside Gate E2A. Gate E2A is inside Terminal 2 right at the point where Terminal 2 splits in half into Concourse E and Concourse F.
The shuttle runs every few minutes from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. It is inside security, so you won't have to go through security again.

If you don't take the shuttle, you have to take the long walk through the tunnel to Concourse B. Right across from Gate B7 is a passageway that will take you to Terminal 2 where Concourse F is. Be careful NOT to exit through security.

Taking the ATS makes absolutely no sense. The ATS is outside of security, so you'll have to go through the security line after you arrive at Terminal 2. Also there is only one ATS station per terminal, which involves walking over a bridge over the outside roadway. It will actually be a much longer walk to and from the ATS stations than just going directly to Terminal 2.
