I have, but he wasn't quite "president" yet, he was "president-elect." He was headlining a fundraiser across the street from my school. The block was closed to traffic but pedestrians were still allowed to pass through. When he left there were rolling street closures in front of the motorcade.

I saw a motorcade for Al Gore in Pittsburgh when he was still VP. It was pretty much as rparz describes it only it was "Parkway West" instead of "Kennedy Expressway."

I haven't seen the motorcade, but once after arriving at Midway late at night I stood waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the shuttle bus to my motel. When it finally arrived, the driver apologized to the crowd that had built up, saying Obama had just arrived and no one was allowed to drive onto airport property until he had left the area.

No big problem. Kind of like the day after a snow storm.

Oh, that's nice. Everytime I've seen the motorcades was at the peak of rush hour. I thought they used to do that on purpose, just to screw with everyone.

2006 I saw the Marine Copters off Lake Shore Drive.
Believe the Marine helicopters are always in three.

Discovery channel had a good program about this last year , very interesting.

Watched the motorcade when a visiting dignitary was in the city back in October.

I was a bit surprised because the security team was not well organized or it appeared that way.

Once I was visiting a friend who was in school at ND and we watched Busch touch down at their airport
it was rather impressive because the plane was so large compared to others at a small city airport.

You tube has some good footage of President Obama's motorcade in Chicago.
The detail is amazing for a president's visit.
