I have heard a certain neighborhood (forget which) referred to as "Dodge City" because people there are always dodging bullets. What other nicknames do any neighborhoods or streets have in Chicago?

"The Wild 100s" is a nickname for the Roseland/Pullman area on the far south side east of the Dan Ryan because there is a lot of crime from 100th - 127th st.

"K-Town" on the West Side in North Lawndale from Pulaski to Cicero because almost all of streets start with K except for like Tripp and something else. Also probably because so many people get killed over there.

Nearly all of the neighborhood names have interesting stories behind them, though they are not really 'nicknames.' You can wiki Canaryville, Streeterville, Back of the Yards, they all have interesting stories.

I have never heard anyone use the term the "Fighting 46th" ward except for Helen Shiller and her zombies.

Alphabet city is probably the neighborhood on the southside where the streets are named ave a ave b ave c ave d etc.. It's around south Chicago south deering heghewish... The bush is the area around 83rd to south Chicago ave Plus are you talking about names given by street gangs to neighborhoods... Cause dodge city, terror town, devil side, dark side, murderland, Iraq city are names given from the local gangs that have hoods there

'Sari City' is Devon Ave. west of Ashland. There are numerous Sari shops. The Bush is the area between the lake and route 41 from 83rd to the river.

Also, there is Pill Hill and the Gap.

'The Fighting 46th' is a takeoff on the movie about a NY National Guard division.
