You got Rock N Roll McDonalds in this corridor, Rainforest Cafe, Gino's East, nightclubs such as Soundbar, Crescendo, Hop Haus, Ontourage, Rino, Martini Park, etc. etc.

It may not be Times Square, but you gotta admit that it has a mix of bright lights & plastic gaudiness (and corporate chain food), that is very similar to Times Square, especially on a Friday or Saturday night.
I agree that is the closest to Times Square.

On another note, can these Times Square comparison threads close?

Either, you don't live in Chicago, you are very young, and most definitely you know nothing of the Chicago's history. Chicago as you know it, is not the Chicago of "old". The term "loop" was the the "type" Chicago you have in mind. Chicago has changed. The notion you reference has been "killed off" in Chicago, by the Daley administrations. The "loop" WAS Chicago's "time square". The things which made it the "loop" are no longer there. Although the elevated tracks and trains are still in place, the essence of the "loop" is DEAD. What you reference, probably won't ever happen in Chicago (again).

This is a very strong statement. Why do you say it has changed? How has the Loop developed in a way that is different from the real Times Square?

Chicago doesn't need anything remotely close to a Times Square...the two cities (chicago ny) have been competing for decades when it comes to skyscrapers, sports, and just existance...lets live Chicago the way it is....The BIG CLEAN city in the midwest

I'm sorry but Times Square is overrated. I don't know anyone besides tourists that actually frequent Times Square in NYC. That stands for CHicago as well going downtown besides a possible shopping venture on MIchigan, giving tours to visiting friends/family, or work.

In terms of tourism, Chicago has Navy Pier, Michigan Ave, State St, and Millenium park. These places alone, IMO, trump most city destinations in the whole country.

Here is Chicago's newest "Times Square" area. The theater district used to be very similar to TS in NYC, but of course now it is drastically changed (as is the rest of the Loop since the 1960s).

Anyway, here are the pictures of State near Lake St.

Hardly a Times Square but this is a great picture though.
