I like to go to Florida and sit on my fat ass smoking cigars and eating shrimp. Not exactly exciting but it suits me.

Most Chicagoans go to Door County Wisconsin. If they want warm weather, I would guess Las Vegas would be number one followed by Phoenix which is also probably the number one place Chicagoans retire in.

I went on vacation to Phoenix once. By far the most boring vacation ever. I still don't know why my parents chose Phoenix as a vacation destination. The most interesting parts was a day trip to Nogales, Mexico and horseback riding outside of Tucson. aka not Phoenix, lol. South Florida I could see. California, sure. Phoenix? I guess if I never left the hotel and it was a really nice hotel...

As far as Vegas goes, it can get pretty cold there in the winter. I went in January and it was 40s to low 50s for highs, and down to the 30s for lows. I'd hardly call that vacation weather. But by March the weather is pretty great, and Vegas is always so much fun I still put it on my list.

A lot of Arizona is boring. I was in Tucson a few months ago. I grew up going there because my grandparents retired there from NYC. I hadn't been there in about 10 years. Never realized how ridiculous it was. Very boring

Agreed -like I said, the horseback riding was the highlight of my trip, lol. Although AZ does have some nice gems here and there. I went to Sedona a few years ago and absolutely loved it.

They can give it back to Geronimo and it'd be aces with me.

I went to LA for New Yrs last year, saw the Tournament of Roses parade, and FELL IN LOVE with LA while I was there! I definitely wanna go back this yr, and obviously enjoy the nightlife, etc, but I also want to play basketball on the courts at Venice Beach and hike some of the mountains in the area.

Definitely wouldn't mind doing Vegas over March madness and watching games from one of the sports casinos there. South Beach is also on the agenda.

Internationally, the agenda is very significant, but my mind doesn't have that categorized as a get out of the Chicago winter scheme.

It's London, the weather is never anything great. Just go, you have free lodging in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

When I lived in Madison, I noticed that a number of Midwesterners preferred to go directly south ( New Orleans, etc), or out west ( the Rockies, Arizona, West Coast) for their vacations. No Florida, NYC, New England, DC etc. It's almost like there's a vacational continental divide, as in "once you've hit Chicago, you don't go back ( eastward)...
